Why RaceWay?
With RaceWay you are your own boss. The RaceWay model gives you greater flexibility to make
decisions about how to run your business than a more typical franchise opportunity. RaceWay offers
high traffic locations and competitive fuel prices. You have the freedom to cater your offering to the
community you serve.
How many gallons of fuel will the site pump?
It depends on your store. Currently, convenience stores sell over 80% of all fuel sold in the United
States. On average RaceWay stores currently pump 47,000 gallons per week, well above the industry
average of 30,000 per week. Your store may pump more or less. If you are selected as a potential operator, RaceWay will provide you with
historical information about the volume of fuel pumped at the store you are interested in prior to you
becoming an operator. This historical information is no guarantee that the store will continue to pump
that volume of fuel when you operate it. Fuel volume is affected by many factors including
location, economic climate, fuel prices, and competition in your market. You should make your own
assessment of the store's potential to produce fuel sales.
Do I have the freedom to establish relationships with vendors of my choice?
Yes. RaceWay does not require that you use certain vendors to supply inventory for
your store. RaceWay does prohibit the sale of certain items of inventory. These items are clearly set
forth in the Gasoline Services Agreement. You will be required to obtain all of your motor fuel from
RaceWay.
Is there an opportunity to have a food program?
RaceWay recommends that an operator consider adding or enhancing a food program as a way
for that operator to help increase his or her inside sales. According to the National Association of
Convenience Stores (NACS) over the last decade the trend to offer fresh prepared foods has accelerated.
"The result is that convenience stores have continued to evolve from fuel stations that happen to sell
food to restaurants that happen to sell fuel." Many RaceWay operators offer a variety of food programs
from roller grill items to fresh fried chicken, pizza, and frozen yogurt.
How do I equip and stock my store?
RaceWay gives you several options. You can purchase equipment and inventory from suppliers
you personally select, or you may seek to obtain equipment and inventory from the outgoing operator,
or a combination of both. In each case, you will be required to abide by certain restrictions contained in
your Lease and Gasoline Services Agreement.
May I operate more than one RaceWay store?
Most operators operate only one store and that is the model that RaceWay prefers. We do
allow certain operators to operate more than one store based on factors like the distance between the
first and second location and our evaluation of an operator's potential to operate an additional store
successfully. Allowing an operator to run more than one store is entirely up to RaceWay.
What type of training support will I receive?
New operators will receive assistance with vendor options and layout designs from the RaceWay
Store Set-up team if desired. Prior to opening, we encourage new operators to train at an existing
operating store for a week. For the first week of your store operation, a District Manager will train you on the use of all on-site equipment, daily reporting, and RaceWay's policies and procedures.
What are the minimum hours of operation?
You will be required to operate your store continuously from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, seven days a
week. We strongly encourage every store to be open 24 hours a day.
